After-School Bike Club

Both Mile High Middle School and Granite Mountain School is offering an after-school bike club in the spring that is available to all students.

Schedule

Granite Mountain School – for 5th and 6th graders on Wednesdays from March 30th through May 11th.

Mile High Middle School – for 7th and 8th graders on Mondays from March 28th through May 16th, except for a shift to Tuesday on April 26th (no school that Monday)

What We’ll Do

  • Skills development, including braking, shifting, bike/body separation, cornering, pedal stroke, and more – all taught by certified youth mountain biking instructors.
  • Fun games like ratchet race, foot down, cone cornering, and more.
  • Trail riding, including the Granite Creek trail for Mile High and the nature trail at Granite Mountain Middle School
  • Bike maintenance and repair basics, such as changing a tube and cleaning/oiling the drivetrain.
  • Special guests from the Prescott Mountain Biking Alliance (PMBA), Prescott Trails Coordinator, professional bike racers like Chloe Woodruff, tours at local bike shops, and more.

In the event of inclement weather, we will move indoors to do tire-changing clinics, learn about local trails, hear from special guests, and do other fun activities.

Bike Equipment

Students can bring their own bike and helmet or inquire about using loaner equipment. There is a rack to lock bikes up to at each school – please inquire with the school front office staff for location.

Registration

Sign up directly with the school office.

Special Thanks

Thank you to the Prescott Mountain Bike Alliance, Yavapai Regional Medical Center, and Azimuth Quest Foundation for providing some amazing loaner bikes!
